Abdominoplasty

Sagging abdominal skin triggers not only aesthetic discomfort but also unwanted health consequences. We’ll help you get rid of it quickly and efficiently!

Accompanied by striae or scars, sagging abdominal skin can happen at any age. This is mostly caused by pregnancy, caesarean section, or extreme weight loss after obesity. Also, men are often overweight and have fat folds. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) will help you get rid of such aesthetic defect.

Abdominoplasty is a large-volume lift surgery which removes excess skin and fat tissue. During the procedure, the surgeon firms the anterior abdominal wall with special sutures, making the abdomen slimmer and restoring the aesthetic proportions of the patient’s body. For a tummy tuck, we put patients under general anaesthesia. Depending on the type, the procedure takes from 1.5 to 3 hours, while the rehabilitation takes from 1.5 to 2 months.

Abdominoplasty is indicated if you have:

  • Apron belly;
  • Sagging skin with striae or scars;
  • Asymmetrical or too large scars after caesarean section or other abdominal surgery;
  • Excess skin above the navel;
  • Soft and overly strained abdominal muscles as well as a bloated waistline;
  • Prolapsed anterior abdominal wall caused by the pulled intermuscular aponeurosis of abdominal muscles.

In some cases, a tummy tuck can help you get rid of postoperative scars. Also, abdominoplasty is performed in conjunction with liposuction when patients suffer from obesity or localised fat deposits.

Our experience

Before

surgery

At the first consultation, our plastic surgeon will carefully listen to all of your preferences as to how your abdomen will look in the future, set realistic expectations for surgery, predict its efficiency, and answer all of your questions in detail. At the preoperative evaluation, you undergo the complete body check-up and have all of the necessary tests.
During

surgery

The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and takes 1.5–3 hours. In the beginning, the surgeon marks your body and then makes a small incision to remove some excess skin. We often recommend undergoing abdominoplasty in conjunction with liposuction to achieve the best results.
After

surgery

The doctor will apply a special bandage you must be wearing for a month. At Medical Club Grace, you spend two days under the round-the-clock care of our medical staff. You need to keep your abdomen and body away from any loads.

Our approach to abdominoplasty

We’re sure a toned abdomen adds extraordinary aesthetics and beauty to your figure. Unfortunately, doing exercises or sticking to healthy diets not always helps you achieve the desired results.

Our experts offer you to get rid of sagging skin and striae with the help of abdominoplasty. You’ll feel comfortable having your underwear on and being at the beach, just like at other locations where you need to show your abdomen. Such procedure will improve not only aesthetics but also your health. After all, sagging aggravates spinal deformities and causes vascular congestion.

Q&A

When am I allowed to do abs exercises after abdominoplasty?

It depends. Our surgeons don’t recommend doing any abs exercises for the first 4–6 months after surgery. Anyway, you need to consult with your surgeon before returning to sports to make sure you won’t experience any complications in your case.

When can I undergo abdominoplasty after giving birth?

After giving birth, you need to take into account that your abdomen can recover on its own and get back in its previous shape within one to one and a half years. After that time, we recommend making an appointment for a consultation with our expert and considering your case individually.

How many kilograms will I lose after abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty won’t fix the excess weight problem. It primarily aims to make your abdomen look more aesthetic. Abdominoplasty is perfect for non-overweight clients who are willing to tighten the abdomen and make it more shredded. Also, we can offer you to undergo liposuction at the same time if you have large fat deposits.

• Multiple allergies to anaesthetic agents
• Lactation
• Severe diabetes mellitus
• Untreated grade II–III hypertension and severe diseases of internal organs

Abdominoplasty techniques

Today’s abdominoplasty offers the following types of procedures:
1. Standard abdominoplasty.
2. Extended abdominoplasty with umbilical repositioning.
3. Abdominoplasty with liposuction. It’s perfect for those who—in addition to skin folds—have excess fat deposits in the abdominal area and at the sides of the waistline.
4. Mini-abdominoplasty. The procedure is indicated for minor defects. The navel remains in place. The surgeon makes a single pubic incision.
5. Dermolipectomy (abdominal plastic surgery) to fix an apron belly.

If the procedure doesn’t require the surgeon to remove a significant amount of fat, while the patient doesn’t have large skin folds, the latter may be offered to undergo endoscopic abdominoplasty—a minimally invasive procedure which results in less scarring.
